3rd Annual Battle of the Belgians to Highlight Belgian Beer Week

The return of our annual Battle of the Belgians on Saturday, December 1st, from noon-3 p.m., at Jimmy’s No. 43 (43 East 7th Street) will be the highlight of our week featuring Beers from Belgium and those brewed in the Belgian style. This year’s “you be the judge” event will feature imports from B. United. Then throughout the week we’ll be featuring classics from Vanberg & Dewulf, Shelton Brothers and 12% Imports. Among the beers will be (subject to change): Classic styles from Saison du Pont, Chimay, St. Feuillien, Tripel Karmeliet, Duval, Monk’s Café, Pierrot and Trubadour. Also on tap specialty beers from De Doole, La Rulles, Alvinne, and Hannsens. There will also be a special appearance of BFM from Switzerland (and look for a “surprise” visit by owner Jérôme Rebetez following the Battle of the Belgians).

A second featured event of our Belgian week will be another in our popular series of prix fixe vegetarian dinners on Monday, December 3rd, at 7 p.m. This five-course menu will be paired with select Belgian Beers from Shelton Brothers. The menu will borrow heavily from our recent Wild Gourmet Food Mushroom Dinner, with a planned menu of the following (pairings TBD): ·         Wild Mushroom and Jerusalem Artichoke Soup;  Toast with Wild Mushroom and Sheep’s Milk Camembert; Roasted Beets and Tamari on Wild Watercress Salad; Roasted Squash and Farro Risotto; Banana Bread Pudding with Ronnybrook Whipped Cream.

Tickets for both events, along with a full list of beers can be found at
