Pig Mountain Catskills Announces Chef Additions
The Food Network Chopped Chef Amanda Freitag has announced she will be cooking at Pig Mountain Catskills on October 15th. Jimmy Carbone (Jimmy’s No. 43), along with the team that brought you Pig Island, had been looking for a location outside the city to do a fall event. “Having Amanda on board rounds out our great slate of chefs. It’s a chance for some city chefs to have a real country experience,” Carbone notes. Additional chefs include:
- · Heather Carlucci-Rodriguez (Print Restaurant), co-founder of the event, whose family has had a house in Sullivan County since 1952, introduced Farmhearts and Bridle Hill Farm to the Pig Island team;
- · Matt Weingarten
- · Matt Hamilton
Pig Mountain Catskills will offer up a pig roast celebrating all things local on Saturday, October 15th from 1-6 p.m. at Bridle Hill Farm (190 Hemmer Road, Jeffersonville, NY). The event will feature four chefs roasting eight whole hogs provided by Hahn’s Farm; vegetarian sides; beer and wine from New York state; and a music slate TBA. Proceeds will benefit Farmhearts, a non-profit helping family farms in the Catskills.
For those wanting to make a weekend of it, chefs will be digging their pits and starting their roasts Friday evening, and a special Pig Mountain Catskills Brunch will be served up by Early Bird Cookery on Sunday, October 16th (reserved seatings at 10 a.m and noon) at Hill’s Country Inn (6 Bethlehem Road, Callicoon Center, NY). The brunch menu includes a three-course menu, including trout hash, farmer’s market frittata and roasted corn fritters with candied bacon.
Early bird tickets (through October 1st) for Pig Mountain are $35; general admission tickets will be $45. The brunch seating requires a reservation (845-932-7994) and is also $35. Stores in Narrowsburg will be selling advance tickets. More details are available at ilikepig.com.
