    FIRST CRAFT BEER IN NASCAR: 

    Oskar Blues Brewery to sponsor Landon Cassill’s No. 4 Chevrolet  

    In NASCAR Nationwide Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway

    Oskar Blues Brewery is now sponsoring driver Landon Cassill and his JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Cassill will pilot the No. 4 Oskar Blues Brewery Chevrolet at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Dollar General 300 on Friday, October 11.

     

     “It’s so cool to have a craft beer sponsor, especially Oskar Blues Brewery. Craft beer fits so well with our sport, which is casual and accessible,” says Cassill. “This feels like a great partnership because our team is a lot like this brewery—we’re a homegrown race team working really hard to break through.”

     

    Oskar Blues, the first craft beer in racing, also currently sponsors a Super Late Model, a Mod Coupe and two Sprint Cars that compete at tracks across the country. In addition, Oskar Blues is an official track sponsor at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

    Dale’s Pale Ale and Mama’s Little Yella Pils are the only craft beers available throughout Carolina Motor Speedway—at the Super Speedway, the Speedway Club, zMax Dragway and The Dirt Track, as well as The Party Box in the Fan Zone.


     

    Smuttynose goes to California!

     

     

     

     

    Smuttynose Brewing Company is delighted to announce their new California distribution partnerships with Craft Beer Guild Distributing of California (San Diego) and El Dorado Distributing (Signal Hill, CA in the Los Angeles area) who will bring New Hampshire's leading craft brewer's beers to the West Coast starting in September, 2013.  Both distributorships are part of the L. Knife & Sons family of wholesalers.  The deal with these new L. Knife divisions makes California the 24rd state where Smuttynose beers are available.  

     

    Smuttynose has successful, existing relationships with L. Knife family in Massachusetts, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Kentucky and Wisconsin, so the California deal includes a certain amount of familiarity, but the newness of the situation creates an excellent opportunity for both brands brands to grow together.  "We've shown strong growth in other L. Knife markets and they certainly know our beers," said Smuttynose Founder and President Peter Egelston, "I have faith that we will see similar results in the California market, even though it's a different landscape because we're both starting fresh."

     

    The first Smuttynose shipment consists of bottled Big Beer Series releases; Homunculus and Rhye IPA, as well as three kegs of Cluster's Last Stand that are heading to Stone Brewing Co. Smuttynose's collaboration partner on the beer. Kegs of Finestkind IPA will also be heading to the Golden State.

     

    Full Sail Brewing Celebrates the Hop Harvest with Fresh Hop Pilsner,  

    Brewed with Salmon-Safe Hops 

       

     

    Hood River, Oregon – Every year, Full Sail’s brewers patiently wait for the days until the hop harvest is ready to go. When the call from the farm finally comes, the brewers set out in their truck for the hop fields. They bring back the freshest of hops which go directly into the waiting brew kettle. Just hours away from the farmer’s field, these fresh hops are fragrant with grassy, herbal, citrus, and floral aromas. “As brewers we have so many favorite seasons and brews, but there is something so uniquely and deeply satisfying about this harvest collaboration with our farmers. This season we celebrate the first Cascade hops with Fresh Hop Pilsner. This beer highlights the brewer’s art as well as nature’s gift,” said Sail Executive Brewmaster, Jamie Emmerson. The hops were locally grown at Sodbuster Farms, which is a  Salmon-Safe certified hop grower.

     

     

    Full Sail’s Fresh Hop Pilsner is part of Full Sail’s Brewmaster Reserve series. It will be available in limited quantities September to November on draft in pubs throughout the Pacific Northwest and at Full Sail’s Brew Pub in Hood River and at their Riverplace brewery in Portland, Oregon. They will also be available at various fresh hop beer festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest including the Hood River Hops Festival, the Sisters’ Fresh Hop Festival (Sept 28th), the Yakima Fresh Hop Festival &  Portland Fresh Hop Festival, (Oct 5th).

     

    Flying Dog Announces 2014 Brewhouse Rarities Series

    Each year, the staff of Flying Dog Brewery climbs a mountain to talk beer.   

    Gambrill State Park is part of the Catoctin mountain range and offers a historic overlook that is home to Flying Dog’s annual Brewhouse Rarities pitch session.

    Every July, the entire brewery gathers and teams of employees – from production to accounting to sales and marketing – pitch their ideas for the next year's lineup.

    “Pitches range from unearthing ancient beer styles to experimenting with new and innovative ingredients,” Flying Dog Brewmaster Matt Brophy said. “It’s always incredibly inspiring to hear our entire brewery’s collective creativity.”

    Brophy and his team of brewers evaluate each pitch and choose the next year's releases. 2014 has now been decided and includes: 

    ·         Mango Habanero IPA

    ·         Mint Chocolate Stout

    ·         Ginger Beer

    ·         Agave Lager

    ·         Lemongrass Rice Ale

    ·         Hoppy American Wheat

    ·         Honey Ale

    ·         Dopplebock

     

    Starting January 1, Flying Dog will release a new beer every six weeks exclusively in mid-Atlantic markets. All releases will be on draft only with the exception of the Mint Chocolate Stout, Agave Lager, Hoppy American Wheat, and Dopplebock. Those will be on draft and in 6-packs.
