the Gutter
Last Thursday, 1 September 2011, the local importer/distributor Shelton Brothers arranged an event at the Williamsburg beer bar/bowling arena (Enough slash marks in one sentence?) called The Gutter.

Their Cause célèbre was the line of beers offered by the Danish nomad brewer Mikkel Borg Bjergsø and his line of Mikkeller brews.
According to the good brothers… “The story of Mikkeller is the story of two homebrewers that in a few years went from hobby brewing in the kitchen to national and international recognition.”
The Mikkeller website notes that … “Since the summer of 2007, Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, has run Mikkeller on his own. Mikkel is a gipsy-brewer, who brews at different breweries in Denmark, around Europe and the United States.”
The press release announcing the event followed up with… “Danish brewer Mikkel Borg Bjergsø will be visiting the US later this week and will be stopping off in New York. Not wanting to do the typical tap takeover, we've decided to something different. Come out to the Gutter for their first-ever brewery event and try some of the Mikkeller beers along with beers that Mikkel personally selected from some of his favorite American breweries. Bowling optional.”
The photo below is proof that the brewer bowls…

Of course I had an ulterior motive… What caught my attention, and the reason I went to a bowling alley to get an interview was the specialty of the brewer… on draft…
Mikkeller Drink'in the Sun – “hoppy, American-style wheat. Easy-drinkin' so you don't get thrown off your game, 2.4% abv”

The interview with Mikkel Borg Bjergsø will be posted tomorrow.
