Blue Moon Brewing Co. 13th and Ford Street Golden, Colorado, 80401 United States phone: (800) 642-6116Blue Moon Belgian White
Preface: First of all let me refer you to a previous Blue Moon post… There is a date stamped on the neck of this bottle: DEC0511 E30042005.
The following notes are made after a mouth wash with room temperature sparkling water. These notes have not been influenced by reading promotional material or any other review of this brew.
The following are my tasting notes:
Appearance: A cloudy golden honey colored brew with an extraordinary fine carbonation that knits a rapidly dissipating head of tiny bubbles.
Aroma: The first impression finds hints of apricot. A second reveals some orange undertones as well. The third nosedive picks up some lemons as well as echoes of the first two aromas.
Flavor: After a refreshing initial impression a hint of apricot jumps to the forefront followed by a slight citrus tang. The second sip reveals the depth to the apricot that blossoms into a slightly yeasty richness. The third swig and the apricot can be noticed not only the flavor but in the aroma.
Mouth feel: This is not a light bodied beer. There’s a fullness here that never gets obese.
Finish: The finish is remarkably quick and leaves a palate with a clean refreshed sensation.
Comments: If ever the last gasp of summer could be expressed in a beverage this would be it. I can almost smell the suntan oil, hear the roar of laughter, and only imagine the swimsuits and the people in that populate this last of the season keg party in a bottle.
