Buzzsaw Brown Seasonal Ale

Deschutes Brewing Co.

Bend, Oregon USA.

Preface: This is another of a series of beers sent to me by the good folks at Deschutes Brewing Co. The appearance and flavor of the product might have been influenced, because it was poured at a relatively warm "room temperature" found in a modern urban apartment.

Appearance: The beer is a sparkling clear dark red garnet, on the edge of claret.  The light sandy 10 head is very rocky consisting of both large and small bubbles that leave an attractive "Belgian lace" on the glass.

Aroma: There is a rich, grainy aroma that starts out with only a light hop undertone.  There is very little to add to the taste sensation in that moment between “lip and sip”.  There is no attempt in the aroma to announce the actual flavors.

Mouth feel: This is a medium bodied beer that extends itself based on a solid sense of malt and a not overpowering hop aroma.

Flavor: What starts out as definite bread like malty flavor is soon sent scurrying by a sharp almost metallic hops flavor that finishes at the top of the palate.

Comments: My overall impression is that this is a British style that are that has gone American with more of an accent on a hop finish than the traditional sweet finish of brown ale.
