Southampton Cuvee des Fleurs
Appearance: Light bright burnished gold, with hints of straw. The head is rich and creamy and then goes rocky without falling down until the beer is half finished. Aroma: The aroma is akin to a Belgian whitt from one of Pierre Cellis’s breweries. There is an almost citric fresh cut green grass undercurrent to the initial “Belgian Whitt” impression. Mouth Feel: This is not a thick brew. It has none of the sharp acidic spike or frothy carbonation character to support a medium body that can stand alone. Flavor: In the moment between sip and swallow there is a cinnamon/citric sensation similar to caramelized Seville orange. At the finish there's some spearmint/peppermint embedded underneath a citric hop foundation that has a lot of grapefruit. Comments: This is remarkably fresh French style ale without any of the farm-yard aromas or flavors usually associated with a French Ale. In another time and place this would be the brew served to the head of the manner not to the people sitting in the barnyard. It is a remarkably fresh beer. I would suggest it for a summer meal flow of grilled fish. BREWERY LINK: http://www.publick.com/ What others say: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/southampton-cuvee-des-fleurs/37625/
